How Do You Get Rid of a Corrupt President, Vice President, and Speaker of the House?
By Independent AF | April 15, 2025
Let’s say the worst has happened.
Let’s say the president (Trump), the vice president (JD Vance), and the Speaker of the House (Mike Johnson) are all in power—and all are working together to dismantle democracy, enrich themselves, and weaponize the government against the American people.
This is not just a crisis of leadership—it’s a full-scale corruption of our constitutional system. But if all three branches of elected leadership are compromised, what options do we the people have to restore democracy?
Here’s a breakdown of how we get out of this mess—and why it's not hopeless.
Option 1: Impeachment and Removal
Yes, you can impeach and remove all three—though the process is different for each.
President Trump can be impeached by the House (majority vote) and removed by the Senate (two-thirds vote) after a trial.
Vice President JD Vance is subject to the same process.
Speaker Mike Johnson can’t be impeached—but can be removed through a motion to vacate, just like Kevin McCarthy was in 2023.
Would it be hard? Absolutely.
But it’s not impossible. All it takes is a political tipping point: whistleblower revelations, criminal indictments, or a wave of grassroots organizing that Congress can’t ignore.
Option 2: Criminal Prosecution
The Department of Justice—or special prosecutors—can investigate and indict federal officials for corruption, election interference, insider trading, and more.
If convicted, the pressure to resign becomes overwhelming—and in some cases, mandatory. While sitting presidents can’t be criminally prosecuted under current DOJ guidelines, the vice president and Speaker can.
And if the law doesn’t act? The people can.
Option 3: Speaker Removal via House Vote
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson is arguably the easiest to remove.
Any member of the House can file a motion to vacate the Speaker’s chair.
A simple majority can vote him out—no trial required.
That means just a few Republicans flipping under public pressure could remove him overnight.
Option 4: 25th Amendment (Presidential Incapacity)
This one’s a longshot—but technically possible.
The vice president and a majority of the Cabinet can declare the president “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.”
Congress would then vote on whether to uphold that decision.
But if JD Vance is the VP, this option’s dead on arrival.
Still, it’s worth remembering that our Constitution does provide emergency mechanisms—even if they’re rarely used.
Option 5: Public Pressure and People Power
The most powerful force in America isn’t Trump, Vance, or Johnson—it’s us.
Mass protests can shift political will.
General strikes can paralyze corrupt institutions.
Media attention and public organizing can force resignations.
It’s happened before. Nixon didn’t resign because of an indictment—he resigned because he lost the support of the public and his party.
We can create that tipping point again.
Option 6: The 2026 and 2028 Elections
Let’s be blunt: Congress isn’t going to clean up its own corruption. The same people profiting from insider stock trades and billionaire donations aren’t going to vote to cut off their gravy train.
But we don’t have to wait for them. We can replace them—starting in 2026.
That means:
Backing grassroots candidates in every race, not party loyalists.
Demanding campaign finance reform, dark money bans, and term limits.
Passing state-level democracy reforms that Washington won’t touch.
Because if we want a government of, by, and for the people, we have to build it ourselves.
This Is Not a Lost Cause. It’s a Call to Action.
The corruption of the Trump administration isn’t just theoretical—it’s visible, growing, and dangerous. But we are not powerless. We are not without tools. And we are not alone.
Millions of Americans want change. We just need to organize around a common mission:
Expose the corruption. Remove the enablers. Rebuild our democracy.
Let’s start now.
